Hernán Espinoza has traveled to Japan to walk the Shikoku pilgrimage path. He intends to do so in 43 days, to honor the lives of 43 boys who disappeared in his home country of Mexico. Throughout his journey, Hernán meets an abbess, a monk, and other Shikoku pilgrims, all with different intentions for his journey. As Hernán walks, he confronts demons from his past with the help of those he meets on the path, and is guided by the abbess to create a brighter future.

The New Voices series will produce brand new, never produced-on-stage plays by playwrights living in the nine Bay Area counties. These lightly produced productions will heavily feature plays written by traditionally under-represented and under-produced artists.

Word For Word: Off the Page

Word for Word is a theater company that brings short stories to life, honoring the author’s intent by using every word of a text. Word for Word is thrilled to bring their Off the Page reading series to Town Hall Theatre Company.

The performance features "The Coast of Leitrim" by Kevin Barry, who epitomizes the earthy and sometimes jarringly poetic vocabulary for which Ireland is particularly well known. In this modern romance, a solitary Irish man who, finding himself smitten with a young Polish woman, falls down a Google-fueled rabbit hole, while falling deeper for her.

Off the Page readings are free, although there is a suggested donation of $25 to help pay our artists and cover production costs.

There will be a Word for Word happy hour from 6:00pm-6:30pm including $1 off all beer and wine!
